The Annual Club Rossie Golf Classic was held in the wonderful surroundings of Roscommon Golf Club on yesterday, Friday September 1st.
Over 30 teams teed off in what was an enjoyable but competitive day of Golf. The P&G Cards team took the top prize of an overnight stay in the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dublin plus four Green Fees for Carton House Golf Club and four Green Fees for Donabate Golf Club. Runners-up, the County Photos Team, won four Green Fees for The Island Golf Club while the team of Tony McManus, Mickey Oates, John and Fergal O’Gara won four Golf Bags. Frank Grehan’s Team finished fourth and each member received a Cleveland Wedge. The team of Tom Judge, Mike Finneran, Anthony Duignan and Jack Kilroy won four Green Fees for Glasson Golf Club. Noel Browne’s Team finished sixth and won four Green Fees for Headford Golf Club. The “Nearest the Pin” prize was won by Paul Claffey with Peter Higgins claiming the “ Nearest the Line” prize and Enda Daly hitting the Longest Drive. Eamon McManus’ Team scored the best Front Nine and won four Green Fees for Esker Hills Golf Club. Shay Wade’s team scored the best Back Nine and won four Green Fees for Mullingar Hills Golf Club.
All teams that completed their rounds were included in a draw for a number of great prizes. The top prize, Overnight Accommodation and eight Green Fees for New Forest Golf Club, was won by Junior Smith’s team. The Down the Hatch team each won a pair of Golf Shoes while the St Dominics Golf Society team won vouchers for Trailblazers outdoor store, Carrick on Shannon. The Carthage Nursing Home Team won four Green Fees for Foxrock Golf Club while the Dwyer Transport Team won four Green Fees for Athlone Golf Club.
