We recently caught up with Club Rossie Business Member Patrick Hanley, Sales Manager of the JF Hanley Group, Ballydooley, Roscommon.
Established in 1978 by John and Martina Hanley the group now includes two distinct area of expertise – Fencing and
Groundcare.
Patrick, why did JF Hanley become a Club Rossie Business Member?
We are big followers of Roscommon GAA and feel that teams at all age levels, but particurally underage, should receive a level of funding that will allow each participant to reach their full potential, enabling them all to compete without any restraints or shortfall in preparation. In a county with a small population this is even more
vital to grow strength in depth that all Senior County teams requires in the modern game. This is why supporting Club Rossie makes perfect sense for us at JF Hanley.
How well Club Rossie is run also is a major reason for our support. The work that is put in does not go unnoticed.
Finally, we have my Grandfather Paddy Hanley, who played both minor and senior football for Roscommon back in the late 1930’s and we are very proud of this association.
What is your most memorable Roscommon GAA Moment?
The Minor Footballers winning the All-Ireland Final Replay in Ennis in 2006 and the celebrations that night when the Bus arrived at the Square in Roscommon.
Who is your favourite Roscommon player of all time?
Gerry Lohan. I loved watching Gerry in action; time slowed down when he had the ball. One of our greats and a truely natural forward.
Who is the most fanatical Roscommon GAA Supporter who know and why?
Anne Dockery, from Elphin, is our Admin Manager and is a “dyed in the wool” Rossie. We always enjoy the Monday morning post mortem of the previous game with her as she never fails to come up with a humourous angle on the game that the rest of us may have missed.
Tell us about your Business
We now operate two businesses. JF Hanley Groundcare supply and service commercial grass cutting equipment to GAA / Sportsgrounds, County Councils and grass cutting Contractors. We also sell a full range of domestic lawnmowers, ATVs and accessories from our premises in Ballydooley. JF Hanley Fencing supply and install security fencing, perimeter fencing at sportsgrounds, crash barriers and post & rail fences, throughout the country.
