It has been a busy few weeks for the Senior Football team since they decided to use their new-found spare time to raise money for Mayo Roscommon Hospice but it has been well worth it.
From their initial target of €30,000 – a figure which represented the drop in weekly fundraising income experienced by Hospice since COVID-19 restrictions began, the team and large number of other volunteers, raised over €50,000 online with further donations being sent directly to the Mayo Roscommon Hospice HQ in Knock.
Below is a brief highlights clip and a reminder that lots of photos and videos of the transformations are available on the Roscommon GAA Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.
And here’s a statement issued by the team:
We would like to thank everyone who donated to our Shave or Dye fundraiser for the Mayo Roscommon Hospice. We were delighted to help to raise these much needed funds and awareness for the Hospice who provide specialist palliative care service to patients and families living with life limiting illness in Mayo and Roscommon. We’d like to thank our PRO Hugh who promoted the fundraiser across Roscommon GAA’s social media pages, to Clara, Colm and David from Club Rossie, and to Seanie Mc and Paddy Joe for making videos.
The names of everyone who donated €20 or more (including those who donated straight to Hospice) were put into a random name picker online and the winners of the signed jerseys are:
1- Shirley Lee
2- Vanessa and Seamus Feeley
3- Brian Reynolds
4- Niamh O’Connor
5- Mark Beatty
All five winners have received an email to the email address which was used to make the donation under that name.
Thanks again to everyone and we hope to see ye very soon.
Stay safe. Stay at home.
